WELCOME

Ellwood City Lions Club  is a civic organization dedicated to serve the blind and visually handicapped.  In addition, we work closely with other organizations that support hearing impaired and diabetics.  We are strictly a voluntary organization that raises money through projects in order to support our cause.

We welcome you to explore our Website.  You may find a lot of information about us and our members that you never heard of.  We don't seek notoriety, we do this because we enjoy it - We enjoy helping people in need.  Hopefully it will inspire you to join us and become a volunteer yourself.

WE  SUPPORT

Beacon Lodge, situated on 583 beautiful acres, is a camp for children and adults with special needs including blindness, deafness, and many other physical and mental challenges.  It is nestled in the natural woodlands along the Juniata River of Central Pennsylvania just two miles west of Newton Hamilton, near Mount Union, PA.  Beacon Lodge was established in 1948 as a summer camp for blind residents of Pennsylvania.  It has grown into a favorite retreat for many people with disabilities as well as a conference center for special groups, an educational facility for families, a rental camp for group retreats, and more.
Beacon Lodge Project New Hope is a weekend retreat camping experience provided FREE of charge to Pennsylvania Disabled Veterans and their families.  The Project was founded on the understanding that for disabled veterans and their families, the wartime experience does not end the day a disabled veteran comes home.  Healing and understanding is vital to life success after military service as spouses and children may struggle while their loved one is gone and then after their return.  No matter which era a soldier served, ALL PA Disabled veterans and their families are welcome to experience a retreat at Beacon Lodge Camp.

Old Glasses Give New Life
Eyeglass recycling is one of the Lions’ most popular activities. Although the program was officially adopted by the association in 1994, Lions have been collecting glasses for more than 80 years. Refractive errors can be easily corrected with eyeglasses, yet millions in developing nations lack access to basic eye care services. Lions have recognized the urgent need for corrective lenses and continue to lend their support to the Lions Recycle for Sight Program. If you should have used eyeglasses and hearing aids and would like to donate them, please drop them off at any participating businesses.
